Well first we planned to meet with Tariq Sultan back in July unfortunately we couldn’t get the opportunity, but on Monday we were honored to meet with a brilliant and creative graphic designer ” Tareq Sultan / Kookee Jeejoh”. Tareq Sultan has a pleasant and positive character, he’s just unexpected ….. he was opened to all our questions and generous of him to share with us his personal background, future projects, and portfolio.

- Well, I am a 31 year old who lives in Kuwait working as a freelancer for the past 3 years or so. I like to have fun with art, be visually entertained, and a big movie and tv fan.

What was your major in College, and what schools did you go to ?

- I first majored in [ Marketing & International Business ] at Washington University in Saint Louis and graduated in 2004, I also took a minor as well in graphic design and art. I worked in the states for 9 months after graduating then worked in a company, and figured that marketing wasn’t for me so I applied for Graphic Design at Parsons The New School for Design for 2 years.

In Graphic Design / Art what do you represent and what kind of art are you into?

- In Graphic Design / Art I represent ” Clean, Simple, and Minimalism” . I am into Religious visual Art interpreted by Kuwait type of Art.

 Current, Future projects?

What are your current, and future projects Tareq?

- Let’s start with my current projects ” Well I am working with a new chain of restaurant’s that’s opening this Fall [ November ] known as the ” Upper Crust ” from Boston, U.S.A. . What Specifically are you working on ? – I’m actually just working on their packaging and restaurant materials for the Kuwait Branch. I just have to follow the Boston Branch guidelines though. So it’s not that much creative freedom but it’s fun.

- As for my future projects ” Will be working on 4 new restaurants opening this fall. I also have new t-shirts coming out via Local Tees brand. In addition I am planning a solo exhibition of my artwork in the upcoming spring in Kuwait. Last but not least to establish my own line of products under the Kookee Jeejoh Brand.
